Kris Amphenol ASD Line Boxcars

In 1967 the Amphenol Corporation, a manufacturer of electrical connectors, merged with Bunker Ramo Corporation, a maker of specialized computers. Amphenol reportedly had a side plastics molding business, of which Andy Kriswalus contracted with to produce some Kris Model Trains body shells. The boxcars below are not documented in the Kris Model Trains chapter of Greenberg's Guide to Kusan Trains. An Amphenol gondola was also produced.

Kris Amphenol boxcar BLT 6-38

Amphenol ASD Line 754-4444 Cadre Division boxcar; white; black roof; black and orange lettering; ASD Line logo; sliding black panel doors; half ladders; "CADRE DIVISION" right aligned; BLT 6-38. The boxcars were reportedly given to Amphenol sales staff at a meeting in Florida. The road number on the car is the company phone number. Built date variation not documented in Greenberg's.


Kris Amphenol boxcar BLT 10-47

Amphenol ASD Line 754-4444 Cadre Division boxcar; white; black roof; black and orange lettering; ASD Line logo; sliding black panel doors; half ladders; "CADRE DIVISION" more centered; BLT 10-47. This boxcar is similar to the one above, except the built date and some technical car data is not the same and arranged differently.
