Lionel Prewar # 55 Airplane
Cruising above the train layout is a prewar Lionel # 55 Airplane. This was Lionel's attempt to capitalize on the public's growing interest in 1930's air travel. The plane is tethered to the large red and gray pylon, which houses the motor that drives the plane's propeller. In addition to flying in circles, the plane can also take off and land.
