Lionel Prewar Production
The prewar era for Lionel trains is defined as the period from 1901 to 1942, when regular train production ceased due to World War II material needs. Pictured is a Mickey Mouse # 1100 handcar, which was made from 1935 to 1937. Legend has it that sales of this handcar kept Lionel afloat during the Great Depression of the 1930's.
